“Letters to Tiptree” nominated for the Australian Ditmar Award for Best Collected Work

Letters to Tiptree” (http://nicolagriffith.com/2016/02/07/letters-to-tiptree-on-sale-for-a-dollar-so-you-can-read-and-nominate-it-for-a-hugo-award/) was nominated for the Australean Ditmar Award (http://wiki.sf.org.au/Ditmar_Award) in the Best Collected Work category (http://www.locusmag.com/News/2016/02/2016-ditmar-preliminary-ballot/).

This is an anthology of non-fiction essays and letters (Eds. Alisa Krasnostein and Alexandra Pierce; Twelfth Planet press) celebrating the centenary of the birth of Alice B. Sheldon.

My essay “Dear Zora” – a comparative review of Alice Sheldon and the Bulgarian speculative fiction writer Zora Zagorska – was included there. I am honored that my work appears in the same book together with work of Ursula K. Le Guin, Joanna Russ, Michael Swanwick, Jo Walton, Rachel Swirsky and Aliette de Bodard, among others.

A review of the Letters… in „Strange Horizons“ (http://www.strangehorizons.com/reviews/2015/12/letters_to_tipt.shtml) says: „One of the most interesting letters, by Valentin D. Ivanov, is written not to Tiptree herself but to writer Zora Zagorska, the author of the first Bulgarian science fiction novel, The Treasure of Planet Earth (1967). Ivanov compares this novel to Tiptree’s works: while Zagorska’s book does not fare entirely well in the comparison, his point about imagining alternatives and changing the future is timeless.“
